Environmental Policy

The Group provides a policy to determine its environmental strategy. In practice each site shall review its energy, material and fuel consumption. Where possible the senior managers at each site will seek to use raw materials effectively and efficiently to reduce consumption. Such measures include job planning, maintenance of plant and equipment, review of suppliers, reuse and recycling tools and equipment, transport planning etc.

Each site shall also review it waste and methods of disposal. Materials classed as hazardous shall be disposed of in accordance with national and local legislation. The Group will actively seek to reduce its use of hazardous materials by reviewing alternatives.

The Environmental Policy of Canal Engineering Ltd aims to minimise the impact of its business on the environment.

This objective will be achieved by:

  • Effective management of energy in all areas of operation
  • Identification of waste reduction opportunities in manufacturing
  • Encourage recycling and the use of recyclable packaging and packaging of end products
  • Ensure waste disposal practices confirm to current legislation

Respect for the environment shall be reflected in Company operations, its administration and by its employees.

Canal Engineering Ltd seeks to work continuously for improvements in the environment by:

  • Reducing the use of non-renewable raw materials and energy
  • Recycling waste as much as possible
  • Keeping pollution at a minimum

Organising its operations according to current environmental laws and regulations relevant to the Company’s activities.

Informing its employees, customers and suppliers/subcontractors on environmental matters and increasing their awareness.

Effective management of energy in all areas of operations

At the end of each day all computers, photocopiers, lights, air conditioning and manufacturing equipment are turned off.

Manufacturing equipment is not turned on unless required and where applicable power save features are enabled.

Identification of waste reduction opportunities

Canal Engineering Ltd utilise electronic data transfer and storage to reduce paper usage. Where possible, manufacturing practices are geared to reduce waste produced.

Encourage recycling and use of recyclable packaging and materials for end products

Wherever possible, scrap materials are removed by Companies involved in the recycling of materials such as paper, plastics, metals and manufacturing waste.

Ensure waste disposal practices conform to current legislation

Waste disposal of all materials is carried out by qualified companies in line with local and national legislation.

Canal check in atT5 Heathrow

Canal Checks in at T5 Heathrow.

We are currentley working on the prestigious BAA Terminal 5 at Londons Heatrow airport.
We are working with three differnet contractors on four seperate projects, the most prestigious being the glass and metal enclosures around the 'check in' desk in the departure hall.
The terminal will opened by Her Majesty the Queen in March 2008.

Millenium Dome

Canal Engineering announces its latest large project - the Millenium Dome.

In October 2006 we received notification that we have won the contract to supply handrails and balustrades for the Millenium Dome refit to the tune of a quarter of a million pounds. This high profile order shows that Canal is a recognised leader in the architectural metalwork business. Canal will be one of many contractors on a site that promises to be one of the busiest in the country for the coming months.

 
Nanette

Canal Engineering is pleased to announce the recent supply of a centre-piece staircase to the new Nanette Lepore flagship store in London.

The design called for a stylish feature staircase able to be integrated into the architect’s bold vision for the premises.

Nanette (www.nanettelepore.com) has many celebrity followers including Sarah Jessica Parker and Eva Longoria and so the image portrayed by her stores is paramount.
