Health & Safety Policy
The Directors of John L. Lord Group of Companies regard the health & safety of their employees, their clients and others who may be affected by their operations to be of major importance.
In support of this they will promote health & safety throughout the Company’s operations and endeavour to engender a positive attitude in all employees towards the prevention of accidents and the maintenance of healthy working arrangements.
The Group will satisfy the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act and related legislation by setting out the responsibilities of all levels of staff and the arrangements for carrying out those responsibilities and in particular do what is reasonably practicable to:
1. Maintain safe & healthy working conditions both at the main manufacturing sites and all working sites and locations.
2. Ensure that all plant and equipment is safe and properly maintained.
3. Provide products that can be applied and used safely and without risk to health.
4. Provide and maintain working procedures, that are safe and without risk to health, throughout the Company’s operations in respect of;
5. Ensure the competence of employees.
6. Where appropriate carry out duties under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations & the Construction (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1994.
Employees are reminded that they have duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act and related legislation to:
1. Take reasonable care of their personal health & safety.
2. Take reasonable care for the health & safety
of all others who may be affected by their acts
and omissions whilst at work.
3. Co-operate with their employer in health & safety matters.
4. Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse
anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare.
5. Work as instructed and trained.
6. Report to their employer any immediate and serious dangers.
7. Report to their employer any shortcomings in health & safety arrangements (including the reporting of accidents and incidents).
The detailed responsibilities of those carrying out this policy and details of the arrangements for carrying out this policy are set out in the Company’s Health & Safety Manual. The details will be brought to the attention of those concerned.
This statement will be reviewed annually and re-issued after the review (amended if necessary).

Canal Checks in at T5 Heathrow.
We are currentley working on the prestigious BAA Terminal 5 at Londons Heatrow airport.
We are working with three differnet contractors on four seperate projects, the most prestigious being the glass and metal enclosures around the 'check in' desk in the departure hall.
The terminal will opened by Her Majesty the Queen in March 2008.

Canal Engineering announces its latest large project - the Millenium Dome.
In October 2006 we received notification that we have won the contract to supply handrails and balustrades for the Millenium Dome refit to the tune of a quarter of a million pounds. This high profile order shows that Canal is a recognised leader in the architectural metalwork business. Canal will be one of many contractors on a site that promises to be one of the busiest in the country for the coming months.
Canal Engineering is pleased to announce the recent supply of a centre-piece staircase to the new Nanette Lepore flagship store in London.
The design called for a stylish feature staircase able to be integrated into the architect’s bold vision for the premises.
Nanette (www.nanettelepore.com) has many celebrity followers including Sarah Jessica Parker and Eva Longoria and so the image portrayed by her stores is paramount.
